The
Business
Debut Services is a joint venture between Bovis Lend Lease and Babcock
Support Services, which provides construction, refurbishment and
maintenance services.
The Challenge
The £1 billion upgrade programme,
code-named Project SLAM (Single Living Accommodation Modernisation),
is central to the MoD's aim of improving the quality of life for personnel
in Britain's armed services. Debut Services will manage the five-year
first phase, involving some 16,000 bed-spaces at over 50 bases, for
which Debut needed a core program, project planning and progress collection
software tool.
The
Solution
After assessing the requirements of the scheme Asta Powerproject was
selected as the best technical and commercial solution. All information
is held in a single database within Asta Powerproject enterprise,
which manages multi-user access centrally. Asta Powerproject has been
integrated with the central cost management system and also provides
consolidated reports.

Services will manage the five-year first phase, involving some

Results
Costs of the project are imported from the central cost management
system – so that the activities are cost loaded, which allows
project, region and scheme cash-flow analysis. Progress is reported
by e-mail with aid of the customised Microsoft Excel Turnaround Document,
from which all projects are automatically updated.
