The
Organisation
Wandsworth Borough Council (www.wandsworth.gov.uk)
is the largest of the inner London boroughs with
approximately 260,000 residents. Its Design Services Department is an
internal building
consultancy that functions on a business trading account
basis in competition with private sector practices.
It provides design and consultancy services,
manages the delivery
of new build, as well as renovation and maintenance of
council premises
and public buildings.
The Challenge
With paper-based
systems for managing projects and a manual
timesheet system, it was difficult to get a clear overview
of project status, costs and resource requirements. In order
to compete effectively with the private
sector, the department
needed tighter control over outgoing
costs and revenues.
The Solution
The department implemented Asta
Teamplan on a dedicated server at the Wandsworth Borough
Council offices. Team members within
the department use Asta Timesheet to record time against
tasks. They submit timesheets on a weekly basis for approval.
Once
approved, progress is then incorporated in the main project
plan.
Visibility
of costs and resource utilisation across
projects is provided through web-based
reporting.
Results
The system will streamline the billing process
and accurately reflect the actual hours worked. Invoices will be generated
automatically at particular project milestones. Visibility
of costs and resource utilisation across multiple projects
is provided through web-based reporting.
