BAM fixes potential build conflicts before reaching site with BIM and Asta Powerproject

Positioned in the heart of the city, the newly completed £60 million Leeds Arena is a world-class music and entertainment venue with a capacity for 13,500 people. The central location and tight space on the site made the build a challenging one and very careful planning was required to ensure the optimum times for the delivery and transport of materials.

The build was so large and complex that contractor BAM determined that using Building Information Modelling (BIM), linked to its default programme management software Asta Powerproject, was the best way forward as the building was constructed virtually first and any errors could be ironed out before they appeared on the actual site. Doug Robertson , Senior Planner, said: “We integrate Asta Powerproject with Navisworks to see how the building will develop. As you are going along you can see six months ahead to any particular stage of a build, whether that be by week or by day – it’s really powerful.” Read full the full story.
